RECRUITING CHAIRMAN
It is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I am proud
to serve as the NC State Re-cruiting Chairman for the next fraternal year.
Membership growth
and recruiting is something near and dear to me, both in the Knights and
as a professional career. So, when I was asked to take on this role, I couldn’t
help but say “YES”.
For those of you who attended the Organizational meeting, it was an honor to
meet you and share with you for the time we had how to go about setting up a
solid recruiting program. Many have asked if the presentation given will be provided,
and the answer is yes. I am making some very minor changes in order to allow
you to be able to download it in note form from my written notes to use within
your councils as well as for personal use. Keep checking the State Web-site for
this in the very near future, along with other materials regarding rewards and
incentives that will be coming down.
For this fraternal year, as with previous years, we do have a magic number. That
magic number is:
1125
That is the membership goal this year that we are striving for. Now, I know
at this early stage, it may sound like a lot, and okay, maybe it is. But,
if you
break this down into simpler num-bers to manage, it really isn’t all
that much.
As we discussed at the Org Meeting, the BLITZ weekends are being done away with.
This means that our attention for recruiting needs to be more focused on recruiting
year round, instead of just two times a year. This by no means suggests that
we should not plan major recruiting events for our councils. These types of programs
are very good to do if planned an executed prop-erly. All the this means is that
the formality of the BLITZ weekends, and the corresponding paper-work that goes
with that, no longer needs to be done.
How the numbers break down is actually very easy. For the State of North Carolina
to meet these objectives, we are asking each council to work as hard as they
can to bring in 9 new Knights starting with July 1 over the next 12 months. This
means monthly, we should be seeing between 93 and 94 new Knights being brought
in. We already hear as of the Org Meeting that we upwards of 5-8 new Knights
on our way to 94 for the month. This is AWESOME!
At the Org Meeting, we learned our State Theme for this year is “We Are
Called”. For re-cruiting, we added a little more to that and our theme
is “Be the Miracle”. If you look at the his-tory of the Knights
of Columbus over the last 129 years, we have been providing one miracle or
another
in support of our Faith, our families and our communities. By lives of courage
and by lives of faith, over 1.8 million members of the Order worldwide; over
15,000 members in NC alone, along with their families, have the chance to
provide miracles daily. Each and everyone us has the chance to be the miracle
for someone
else. Beginning on March 29th 1882 to today, the Order of the Knights of
Columbus is the greatest example of a miracle in action. Why would you not
want to ask
another man to join us?
So I ask all of you to join me this year in continuing to Be the Miracle.
Fraternally,
Rick Lewis, FDD
Recruiting Chairman
