Happy Easter everyone! I hope that as your families have journeyed through Lent, that your family programs were successful, and that the joy of the Easter Season is upon you. I hope that as the warmer months come upon us, the need for programs to support the family never ceases.
We are two reporting months into 2024, and the reports for the Family of the Month are in. With 16 Councils submitting their 10784’s, we only had one incomplete submission; and another Council even submitted two Family of the Month submissions in one month. While this is an improvement over last year, every Council should be doing this program. It is a great way to get the Council out in front of the Church. Pick a family, file 10784 (before the 15th of the month) and present it at Mass. The Family of the Month should be a core program that you participate in. For minimal effort, your Council can reap big rewards. By showing the parish that the Knights are recognizing their efforts, you can also potentially turn church members into Knights.
Food for Families is a vital program, the need for donations is on the rise. With inflation and the cost of food at record highs, families are struggling to put food on the table. The winter holidays provide a spotlight for food donations, but the need can in fact increase over the summer months. Especially in light of children who face food insecurity and aren’t in school to receive free or reduced meals. Please continue to spotlight this program.
Vivat Jesus!
