My brother Knights!
Over the past month, I have been very busy handling several important tasks for our State Council. First, I want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone for promptly sending in the many invoices for insurance and per capita checks—your cooperation really helps keep things running smoothly! In addition to processing these, I have been dedicating time to carefully working on the budget for the next Fraternal Year to ensure we are set up for continued success. Lastly, preparations for the upcoming State Convention are well underway, and I’m excited to see all our hard work come together.
Invoices Received
This month, I processed both per capita and insurance invoices. I'm happy to share that we've received payments for over 90% of August and 70% of February’s per capita billed amounts! I’ll follow up with any outstanding invoices in early April.
I know this year’s insurance process has been confusing and costly for all councils. We're still behind on August insurance billing, with only about 62% collected. On a positive note, December’s insurance billing (which councils received in February) is now over 76% paid. If your council hasn't made payment yet, please remember that the State Council has already covered your insurance bill—so if you still owe, please send your payment as soon as possible.
We're currently working on the 2026-2027 budget, and unpaid invoices impact our expenses and could mean we need to consider an increase in per capita rates. Personally, I feel raising per capita rates amid rising insurance costs would place additional strain on North Carolina councils. The State Council wants to avoid that, if possible.
If you have any questions about invoices your council might still owe, I encourage you to reach out—I’m available to help. I've already contacted one council that was behind, and checks have been sent to bring their council up to date.
2026-2027 Budget
Your State Council is working diligently to put together the budget for the upcoming Fraternal Year. We truly appreciate the trust you place in us with your council’s resources, and we’re dedicated to managing those funds responsibly. We realize that budget presentations in the past may have been confusing, so we’re making it a priority to share the State Council’s budget in a way that’s clear and easy to follow. Our aim is to ensure you always feel informed about how your council’s resources are being used.
Annual North Carolina Knights of Columbus Convention
We’re excited to share that plans for the State Convention are moving along smoothly! As I mentioned last month, we have a very special treat this year—Bishop Zarama will be joining us on Friday evening! The convention will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham from May 15
