Greetings from the mountains of western North Carolina.
 
This has been a month of transition for me.  In addition to transitioning from State Advocate into State Treasurer, my employer of 27 years retired June 30, and I have become North Carolina’s newest Field Agent; also, my parish is going through a transition as our pastor of 13 years is retiring August 12.
 
This has also been a month of transition for many of you, assuming new roles in your councils.  I was very pleased to see the great turnout we had at our Council Leader Training meetings.   There was a lot of great interaction, but there was also a lot of information to take in all in one day.  Your District Deputies, Regional District Deputies, and State Officers are here to help you with any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to call on us.
 
As part of our Order’s transition into the new fraternal year, you heard about the new requirements for Star Council this year, with significant changes to the Columbian Award and the Founders Award, with the latter illustrating our renewed emphasis on “two lungs, one body,” with the importance of both the fraternal and protection sides of our Order to realize Blessed Michael McGivney’s vision.
 
Another transition that is of particular importance this month is the transition from the semiannual council audit to the annual audit, which is now submitted via an online form.  This is due by August 15, so if you’re reading this article and you haven’t gotten together with your Trustees to conduct this yet, tempus fugit.  Once again, we are here to help you if you have questions.
