I trust that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday in the way you and your extended family wanted to. I prayed that all our brother knights, fellow Catholics, Christians, and all God’s children had the opportunity to give ‘Thanks to God’ and celebrate peace in their lives. For those worldwide still suffering and fighting our prayers go out to you. As you know Knights of Columbus work and pray to draw everyone to the fullness of truth in our Catholic faith, but we also recognize each person’s right to seek the truth in the religion that he or she believes. For this principle of our order, I am truly Thankful.
As we look to the close of the calendar year and our celebration of Christmas, let us spend a moment on our membership achievement to date. State Deputy Chris Losack sent this email to the State Officers, Directors, RDDs, and DDs: NC Reaches the 50% goal …
“I wanted to send a brief email announcing that our great State of North Carolina has reached 50% of our full-year quota on November 21. I am so proud of the work you all do and simply want to thank each of you. Collectively or better said in Unity, we achieved this membership target five and a half weeks ahead of our December 31 target. At the beginning of the year, we discussed 3 members per district per month and it seemed so challenging to achieve. Well, your leadership team knew that it was possible, and you made it happen. Some districts are carrying the load for others, but in Unity, you all are making this year a success together. You have heard me before as well as our esteemed PSD and Supreme Director Colin Jorsch and PSD and Regional Growth Director JC state that North Carolina is viewed very positively by Supreme, this achievement in membership is yet another reason for this positive view.” He went on to say “Looking forward to celebrating with you at the Mid-Year meeting and then solidifying our plans to finish the fraternal year in a similar way that we started, leading the pack!”
I could not have said it better myself. Collectively we are working to grow our order in the State of North Carolina, which provides us the opportunity to do more good work.
The Christmas season provides many opportunities to renew our faith, welcome Jesus into our lives, and say prayers of thanks and not just prayers of need. I believe God listens to all of them, but both are needed. Each of us will touch many Catholic men over the Christmas season so please think about sharing your own Knights of Columbus story and ask them to join our order and help continue to do our work.
As always, let me know how I can help!
Vivat Jesus
