Fellow Knights,
We now have a new Presidential Administration in The White House which should make things better for Christians. While doing an Internet search, I found a New York Times (NYT) article dated 11/7/24. The authors were Elizabeth Dias and Ruth Graham. Here is a summary of what they believe the new Administration may do for Christians. (Note that the information below is a summary of a NYT article and not a Knights of Columbus political endorsement.)
They start by writing that some Christians saw the 2024 election as a Holy War. They stated that some Christians were weary and angry with the last 4 years. They felt powerless to change liberal policies/values. They further stated that with the new Vice President and Speaker of the House, things might be better for Christians. JD Vance, a practicing Catholic father of three, might promote a traditional vision of family. Mike Johnson may place evangelical Christianity at the center of his political vision. The current Supreme Court, which overturned Roe vs Wade, might be poised to further strengthen religious rights. Later in the article it is written that the new administration promised to create a federal task force that would fight anti-Christian bias. (Note that as of 1/25/2025, 23 pro-life advocates, convicted of a FACE crime at a pro-abortion facility, have been pardoned). The authors stated that our new President vowed to give special access to Christian leaders who support him. Lastly, the article stated the pro-abortion policies of the previous Administration will start to be dismantled.
All in all, things are likely looking good for the followers of Jesus Christ. However, keep up the struggle. Never let your guard down. Continue to pray, fast, read your Bible and attend Mass. Live a good life and set a great example. Remember what Jesus told us: Love God and Love your neighbor. Lastly, never forget that we are all sinners, however, we have a wonderful friend in Jesus, who came to earth as a man to save all souls.
Vivat Jesus,
