My brother Knights!
This past month has been quite eventful and meaningful. We recently held our Mid-Year meeting, where I had the opportunity to connect with the District Deputies from across our great state. In addition, my wife and I participated in the Right to Life Prayer Breakfast, further strengthening our commitment to this important cause. We also traveled to Castle Hayne for a Star Council Presentation and Exemplification ceremony. Among all these memorable experiences, the most rewarding aspect was meeting and engaging with Brother Knights from all corners of the state.
Second Half Per Capita Payment
I would like to remind everyone that the Second Half Per Capita invoices will be sent out soon. These invoices are due upon receipt and do not require a council vote for payment. It is important to maintain full transparency within your council, so members are aware of how funds are being allocated. I am reaching out to those councils that are currently behind in their per capita payments. Please keep in mind that these funds are essential for the smooth and effective operation of our state activities.
Insurance Updates
Regarding insurance, as communicated previously, our current policy will expire earlier than anticipated, which is why charges have been lower than expected. Beginning in February 2026, your council will receive a new insurance bill. I am contacting those councils that have outstanding insurance payments. Remember, the State Council has already covered your council’s insurance, and missing payments places a strain on our activities. Prompt payment is greatly appreciated, as it supports the ongoing operation of many state programs.
Budget Planning
The State Council is actively preparing the budget for the upcoming Fraternal year. Each year, we organize a range of important activities—including the annual Convention, trainings, various programs, and insurance coverage. We recognize that these funds are hard-earned by our councils, and we remain committed to using them responsibly and effectively.
Annual North Carolina Knights of Columbus Convention Information
A quick note about our upcoming convention: The North Carolina Knights of Columbus Convention will take place from May 15th to 17th, 2026, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham. I encourage all members to attend and take part in what promises to be a busy and enjoyable event. The convention will begin with Bishop Zarama joining us, which is a great honor! During the convention, we will elect the State Officers and welcoming a new State Warden. In addition, we will present the awards for Priests, Deacons, Knight, Golden Knight, Family, and Rookie of the Year!
As always, if you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to me. Wishing you all a joyful and prosperous start to the year!

Joe McCarthy, North Carolina State Treasurer
