Brothers All,
Happy New Year. This past year has been a year of challenges which we have not had to experience for quite some time. It has been a very difficult year for some of you. There have been personal losses, and natural disasters. But the generosity of everyone in support of those affected has been tremendous. It only goes to show how strong this Brotherhood is to all of us.
Here are some updates on just some of the programs that are happening. You can get more information on these from the Program Directors articles in this issue of the Tar Heel Knight.
Under the Faith programs, the new Icon will start its journey throughout the state. There are two of these icons, one in the east and one in the west. Please keep track of it and treat it with the most upmost respect and honor. Your District Deputy should deliver it to your council, but if not, please let him and your RDD know when you receive it. Your District Deputy can also assist you in planning for the viewing if you need some help. Also, if you need more prayer cards or booklets, please let your District Deputy know as soon as possible.
Additionally, please continue to support your RSVP candidate, both monetarily and by praying for them at your council meetings.
Under Community, congratulations for a record-breaking year on the Coats for Kids program. And a special thank you to all of the councils that donated their coats to those areas in the western part of the state. There will continue to be a need for many of these types of items for some time to come. Please continue to pray for all of those affected by all natural disasters throughout the state.
The states Build-a-bed program is going strong. Please think about hosting a build in your area. Contact the Community Director or the program Chairman, Tommy Robards, for all information on that program.
Under our Life programs, please continue to support the ASAP program. There is a great need in this area for our support of life. These brave women chose life, and we need to support them as much as possible. January is Sanctity of Human Life month where we show our support for life. Many Councils host or join others of all faiths marching through the streets proclaiming our support for all life.
Under the Family programs, the need for food is an ongoing issue. Everyone that goes to the grocery store has been affected by the increasing cost. Just remember that there is a large part of our population that is living on a restricted budget. They have to make decisions daily on what they can purchase. For some it is either food or medicine. Any support that you can give may greatly assist those in need. All food items that your Council, or parish collects, can make a big difference in these families’ lives. Also don’t forget to report to Supreme the amount you raised on your Food for Families programs for 2024 and report it on Form 10057 by January 31, 2025, to receive your reimbursement check if you qualify. Please continue to honor a family by submitting them to the Supreme before the 15
th
of the month. What a way to show your Council’s appreciation to them for all that they do for the community. The KCIC poster contest is wrapped up and you need to make sure that your Council’s winner is in your DD hands for the district’s judging. What a great way to celebrate the season by looking at all the posters that are on display in the church’s gathering space.
I will leave you with this prayer. Dear God, as the New Year begins, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude. Thank You for the opportunity to see a new year, a fresh start. I ask that You bless this year with Your favor and that You provide me with wisdom, strength, and peace in all my endeavors. May this year be filled with Your abundant grace, joy, and protection. Guide my steps and surround me with people who encourage and uplift me. May I reflect Your love and kindness in all I do.
Vivat Jesus
