July update

It is hard to believe that we are starting the new Fraternal year. I would like to welcome all the new Council Officers and congratulate all the outgoing officers on a successful fraternal year. I look forward to meeting those of you that will be attending the Council Leadership Training (CLT) on 19 July in Burlington. This is a great training opportunity for both new and returning officers to gain insight into your roles, as well as creating fellowship with other Council Officers.
Your Councils do great work for your parishes and the community, but if you do not turn in the paperwork (OH, evil paperwork!) your work remains unknown, and your council does not get credit for it. Paperwork is unavoidable in any organization, but in order for the Knights to fulfill their mission, you need to submit reports. The 10784 is the report for any program that your Council conducts. When you submit the 10784 online to Supreme and email the copy to
forms@kofcnc.org
your Council gets credit for your work and enables you to receive awards of recognition. These awards can be presented during Mass, allowing the entire congregation to see what the Knights are about. The fringe benefit in the public presentation is new members. Spreading the word of the Knights good work is essential to the evangelization process.
I know it is July, but it is time to start thinking about Keeping Christ in Christmas. Now is the time to start planning the poster contest and getting the program materials. This way when school starts, and other priorities begin, you have a ready-made program your youth can easily participate in. It’s also time to start ordering Christmas Cards for sale. This will allow your council to participate in the sale incentives.
As always, as the Family Director, I am here to help and support you throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at
family@kofcnc.org
. If you would like to participate on the state level as a program chair, we are always looking for help. Many hands make light work.
