Planning is Key to Successful Programs

As we celebrate our nation’s 249
th
Independence Day please take a few moments to thank God for the many blessings that have been given to us in the United States.
The 2025-26 Columbian Year is a blank slate upon which to write the success of your council and its brother knights. The key is good planning. Hopefully your council just completed its 2024-25 Form SP7. Before filing it away, please review it with an eye to deciding what worked, what didn’t work, what is worth continuing, what needs improvement or what should be tossed. You should already have a good idea of the programs that you’re going to implement between now and December. That means that you have a chairman - or maybe a committee - in place for the event, a budget, and tentative dates including a determination that there are no conflicts with other events, feasts, festivals, holidays, etc. and approvals from your parish or other facilities where events will occur. One other note: as you’re planning for the new year; if you have a new Pastor or Administrator in your parish please meet with him at the earliest opportunity and make sure that he’s on board with your plans. Don’t assume that because you’ve always done something under the prior pastor that it’s still OK.
Programs fall into one of four main areas plus LAMB in NC and COR. The Program Team is here to help you achieve success. The areas and directors are, Community - Nick Nastasi, Faith - Rick Ohlendorf, Family - Woody Hampshire, Life - Jim Venglarik, LAMB - Richard White and COR – State Warden, Chris Kremer. For more information on these programs please visit

While looking at the State website you may notice that we have a few programs that need a chairman. These are an excellent opportunity for someone interested in getting involved at the State level, especially a man stepping out of a position such as GK or FS who is looking for a new challenge. Please prayerfully consider stepping up to take charge of one of these programs. If you’re unsure about the details, then please contact me or the director for that program.
