Special Olympics Update

My Brother Knights, I want to thank those of you that volunteered, coached, or participated as a Unified Partner at the Special Olympics Summer Games earlier this month. For those that did not have an opportunity to attend, approximately 1,500 athletes and Unified Partners participated in the three-day event in Raleigh the weekend of May 30 to June 1. Now that the Summer Games are behind us, its time to look forward to the Fall Games that will take place in the Charlotte area between Thursday, November 13 and Saturday, November 15, 2025. I ask that you give serious prayerful consideration to volunteer with your local counties Special Olympics program. In all the counties in NC, Special Olympics programs are part of the counties Parks and Recreations Dept. To find your counties Special Olympics contact you can also go to
www.SONC.Net
and then click on the tab “See Volunteer Opportunities.”
Fall Games, there are seven planned sports that athletes can compete at the state games including, Bocce, Cycling, Golf, Roller Skating, Soccer, Softball and Tennis. If you cannot volunteer at your local county but still want to volunteer at the State Games, you can do so. Again, go to the SONC.net website to learn more about volunteering opportunities. I hope to see you in Charlotte later this year.
Vivat Jesus,
Bob Macaluso
K of C Special Olympics Chairman
