Transformation by Christ: A New Year of Service, Stewardship, and Eucharistic Devotion
Author:
Christopher Aloysius Kremer
Tuesday
July 01, 2025
Brother Knights,
As we begin this new fraternal year, let us renew our commitment to
Transformation by Christ
— in our hearts, in our Councils, and in the world. Our charitable works, fraternity, and stewardship are all ways Christ shapes us into His instruments of grace. A key part of that stewardship is keeping our Council forms up to date:
185 (Officers Chosen)
,
365 (Program Personnel)
,
1295 (Semiannual Audit)
,
1728 (Fraternal Survey)
,
SP-7 (Columbian Award Application)
, and
10784 (Faith in Action Program Report)
. These forms are more than paperwork — they are the structure that supports our mission.
I commend all the Councils that have submitted their forms promptly for the new fraternal year. Your attention to these responsibilities allows our good works to be recorded, recognized, and built upon. I also want to spotlight a program recently reported on a 10784:
[insert standout program, e.g., “Council 12345’s Eucharistic Procession that brought together parish families in public witness to our faith.”]
. Such efforts remind us that our works, large and small, are part of Christ’s great work of transformation.
This year, as we deepen our devotion to the Eucharist, we reflect on the saints named in
Eucharistic Prayer I
, beginning with
St. Linus
. St. Linus was the second Pope, succeeding St. Peter as Bishop of Rome around A.D. 67. According to tradition, he served during a time of great persecution, guiding the early Christian community with humility and courage. He is mentioned by St. Irenaeus as one of the faithful guardians of apostolic tradition:
“The blessed apostles, having founded and built up the Church, committed into the hands of Linus the office of the episcopate.”
(Against Heresies III.3.3)
Linus is credited with enforcing the ancient discipline that women should cover their heads in church (a practice noted by some early writers). His steadfast service ensured the unity of the Church during difficult times. Though few of his words survive, his life speaks through his quiet fidelity to Christ and His Church.
Feast Day:
September 23
Patronage:
Linus is invoked as a protector of the papacy and guardian of Church unity.
Let us pray:
Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament
Lord Jesus Christ, truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist, transform me by Your love. As You strengthened St. Linus to lead Your Church with courage and faith in times of trial, strengthen me to serve You humbly and faithfully. May I always honor You in my thoughts, words, and deeds, and may my work as a Knight help build up Your Church and bring Your grace to those in need. Amen.
Brothers, as we begin this new year, let’s combine good order with deep devotion, allowing Christ to transform us and, through us, our communities.
Vivat Jesus!
