Building the City of God: A Year of Unity, Growth, and Renewal
Author:

June 01, 2025
Worthy Brothers,
As this fraternal year draws to a close, we give thanks for all the blessings, achievements, and fraternity that have marked our journey. Across North Carolina, our councils have worked diligently to
build the City of God
—through charitable outreach, spiritual growth, and service to our parishes and communities. Whether through food drives, faith formation, family events, or pro-life advocacy, we have laid stones in a lasting foundation of faith and brotherhood.
This year has also brought historic moments for our Church. We welcomed a
new Holy Father
, a reminder of the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the ongoing renewal of our Catholic faith across the globe. Locally, our
State Convention
was a great success—filled with fraternal spirit, fresh ideas, and inspiration to carry us forward. Together, we recommitted to our shared mission of living out our principles and evangelizing through action.
As we look ahead, we do so with joy and anticipation for the
Jubilee Year of 2025
—a time of pilgrimage, mercy, and renewed faith for Catholics around the world. Now is the perfect time to rededicate ourselves to Christ and the Church as Knights.
Before we shift into the next fraternal year, please remember to submit your important end-of-year forms:
SP-7 (Columbian Award Application)
10784s (Fraternal Program Reports)
Fraternal Benefits Night Forms
These reports recognize your council's accomplishments and are essential for state and Supreme recognition.
As officer elections take place, ensure your council files:
Form 185 (Officers Chosen for the Term)
Form 365 (Program Personnel Report)
Let’s make sure every council starts strong and organized for the new fraternal year.
Also, if you’d like to order
NC State pins
, they are available for
$2 each
. Just contact me to place your order.
June Saint Spotlight: St. Anthony of Padua (Feast Day: June 13)
As we build the City of God, we look to the example of
St. Anthony of Padua
, a saint known not only for finding lost things, but for finding lost souls through his eloquent preaching and deep knowledge of Scripture. A true builder of the Kingdom, St. Anthony reminds us that faith and charity go hand in hand. May we be inspired by his passion for truth and service in all we do as Knights.
A Prayer for the Journey: The Angelus
One powerful way to deepen our daily spiritual lives is by praying the
Angelus
, a traditional Catholic devotion that honors the Incarnation and invites us to pause in reverence throughout the day. Traditionally prayed at
6 a.m., 12 noon, and 6 p.m.
, the Angelus consists of short versicles and responses, along with three Hail Marys and a closing prayer. It recalls the Angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary and her faithful response:
“Be it done unto me according to thy word.”
By praying the Angelus, especially with our families or fellow Knights, we sanctify our day and unite our work with God’s plan. In the spirit of building the City of God, let us anchor our daily labor in prayer.
The Angelus Prayer
:
V.
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
R.
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
V.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord,
R.
Be it done unto me according to thy word.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
V.
And the Word was made Flesh,
R.
And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
V.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
R.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord.
R.
Amen.
Thank you, brothers, for a year filled with faith, fraternity, and purpose. Let’s continue our work—brick by brick—as we help build the City of God, strengthen our Church, and prepare joyfully for the Jubilee Year.
Vivat Jesus!
