The Tar Heel Knight

It was great to see so many of brother Knights at the State Convention last week. The celebration of our great works over the last year was truly inspiring. Having the Charlotte Diocese newly appointed Bishop Martin there to speak at the dinner made the convention even better. For those that could not make the convention I recommend that you try to get to the convention in 2026. The friendships made and the information that is passed is irreplaceable. Just because the fraternal year is almost over is not a reason to let up on your programs; but a reason to finish strong to start the new fraternal year off with a bang. For the newly appointed officers, plan on attending the CTL’s (council leadership training) scheduled for July. There are three this year, east, west and mountains to ensure maximum attendance. I will be in attendance at the Burlington (East) CTL.
I know it’s June, but now is the time to start planning for your Keep Christ in Christmas events. The poster contest is a great way to remind the children that Christ is the reason for the season.  North Carolina had a Supreme winner this year; let’s try to make it two years in a row. Second, now is the time to start planning for your Christmas card sales. We have two vendors this year, an English and Spanish vendor. They both have links on the State website. The English vendor has the ability for you to place your order directly online. The Hispanic vendor unfortunately doesn’t have this ability currently. But their order form can be downloaded filled out and emailed to the Keep Christ in Christmas Chairman Paul Spire, who will verify that the order form is filled out correctly and email it to the vendor. This process allows the Councils to pay the vendors directly and get the cards without the State being the middleman for any payments and allowing for the cards to be delivered more expeditiously.
While the Family of the Month program is growing in reporting, there still is some confusion about the reporting requirements. The 10784 for the Family of the Month is due on the 15^th of the month for the preceding month. As an example, May’s Family of the Month is due by June the 15^th.
