Climb Every Mountain
Brothers,
We have finished ten months of this fraternal year and together in Unity we have climbed the membership mountain and obtained our state’s membership goal of 831 new men into our order. In fact, as of today, we reached 872 members which is a tremendous accomplishment by each of you. My simple words are ‘thank you’ for everything that you do.
We have reached the top of our membership mountain yet the title says, ‘Climb every mountain’. Our new mountain is to reach 19,000 Knight of Columbus members in our great state of North Carolina. We can do it by working together in Unity and asking for help from the State Officers when we need it. Let’s work together and hold a membership drive with Father Bill every weekend for the rest of the fraternal year. As a point of reference, this past weekend St. Mary’s in Wilmington held a membership drive with Father Bill and they have recorded 14 new members and counting. How many new members will you bring to the order?
I leave you with the Italian phrase ‘Verso L’ Alto’ which directly means to climb mountains (or close to that). However, verso l’alto is not a battle cry for bourgeois Catholicism to reawaken its relationship with nature. It is likewise not a call to reclaim the grandeur of man through the conquest of mountains. The phrase expresses that there is adventure greater than mountains can offer. And as we scale the world’s peaks in all their beauty, let us remember that an existence spiritually oriented towards the true height, is the ascent to God himself. Or better put – verso l’alto.
As always, let me know how I can help!
Vivat Jesus
