It was great to see many of you at our 2024 Convention this year. I was honored to assist in the awarding a great number of you the recognition for some of the hard work that you did during the past year. It was an amazing year with some significant increases in both your donations to charity and a huge increase in hours that you spent taking Jesus to the people who need it the most. Here are a few items that I want to bring to your attention so that you won’t miss these opportunities in the next several months.
For many of you, there will be new officers that will assume their new position for the upcoming year. Please give your full support to these Knights as they take over the operations of your Council. Having been in all of these positions, I know fully well the issues that each of the new officers will face. I also want YOU to consider stepping up and let them know that you will be willing to help them. You can volunteer to hold an appointed Council position, such as Community Director, Life Director, Family Director, or Faith Director along with any of the Chairman who fall under each of these positions. It is truly a rewarding experience.
Just a few items that we are looking forward to:
Under Community: Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in a Build-a- Bed project as Supreme is going to host two (2), that’s right 2, separate events here in the State. There will be one in the Charlotte area and one in the Fayetteville area. Stay tuned for more information on these events. While Supreme is funding 20 beds at each of these builds, it would be great if each council in the area where these events are going to take place to donate another $250 to do an additional bed. No child deserves to sleep on the floor.
Under Faith: As Summer kicks off, we must continue to support all the activities that accompany the end of the school year. What a great time to show our support to the First Communion classes and those being Confirmed. A small Sacramental gift goes a long way in these young people’s lives.
Under Family: Summertime is a time for gatherings and fun activities. Please support your local parishes in these summertime events. Parish picnics are being planned and I am sure that Father would welcome your assistance with all of these activities. It is never too early to start planning for your Council gatherings. Why not try a District picnic? Be the first to extend an invitation to another Council to join you during your Council’s event.
Under Life: May is full of Mother’s Day events. Please support these events. Just try to envision where you would be without your mother. That is why the abortion discussion is such a huge issue. Do not be afraid of speaking out against this evil act. This fall we must not be afraid of electing those representatives that are not afraid to stand up for us all in our pro-life stance. There are multiple events during May in which we can gather and show our elected officials how strongly we feel on this issue. Don’t forget to give every mother a rose during this month to show her that you care.
In closing, you can see that there are many opportunities to continue to take Jesus to those places that need Him the most. To do this, you need to plan ahead. Please take the time to discuss these issues during your Council meetings and put together your Council’s budget to include a few of these events. The need is great. But, I firmly believe that we are all up to the challenge. Think outside of the box.
As it says in Colossians 3:15-17: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Vivat Jesus
