It's Convention Month!

Greetings from the mountains of western North Carolina.
Time flies, and it is already time for us to gather in Durham for our annual state convention, where we will celebrate the successes of the past fraternal year, and start gearing up for next year. We have so many things to be excited about and grateful for.
For the second straight year, we are honored to have one of our bishops present with us at our convention. Bishop Zarama will be joining us on Friday night. It is a testament to all the great work that you do that our bishops want to join us in our celebration.
There have been many great accomplishments this year, from achieving our membership goal by mid-April to all the amazing program submissions we received from you on your Form 10784s. The winning programs that will be announced at the convention should be inspiring to all, and hopefully provide fresh ideas for something you can try in your parish. It is perfectly acceptable to “steal” great ideas that other councils have used to invigorate your own parishes and communities.
We’ll be receiving the Silver Rose at the convention, and Knights on Bikes will be playing a key role in transporting the Rose around western North Carolina.
There are also other exciting recurring events happening among the Knights in North Carolina. There is a monthly radio show called Knights Talk, led by District Deputy Keith Kosinski, which airs on Divine Mercy Radio (yes, there’s an app for that if you’re not in the Raleigh area). Check it out if you haven’t already.
Just like there’s never a week off from a show at the Grand Ole Opry, the circle will not be unbroken on our weekly statewide rosary. All Knights and spouses are invited to join us on Zoom every Sunday evening at 8:00 at this link: https://bit.ly/4mMqHY5. Join us one week or all weeks – it’s up to you! But let’s all pray together as brothers for our intentions from across the state.
The day I’m writing this, I’m also preparing to do a presentation in my parish on the Holy Spirit. While doing my research, I came across a prayer called the Prayer for Union with the Holy Spirit, which I think is a good prayer for all of us as Brother Knights:
O Holy Spirit of Light and Love, to You I consecrate my heart, mind, and will for all time and eternity.
May I ever be docile to your Divine inspirations and to the teachings of the Holy Catholic Church whose infallible guide You are.
May my heart ever be inflamed with love of God and love of neighbor.
May my will be ever in harmony with Your Divine Will.
May my life faithfully imitate the life and virtues of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him, with the Father, and you, Divine Spirit, be honor and glory forever.
Amen.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.” (Psalms 118:24)
Vivat Jesus!
