My brother Knights!
This has been a very busy month in preparation for our Convention! Your Convention Committee, Region 2, and your State Officers/Staff are working hard to provide an enjoyable and productive event for all attendees! Many special events are planned for the Knights, their ladies, and families, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. I am personally looking forward to seeing so many of you from across the state, reconnecting with old friends, and meeting some new faces as well. Especially those whom I haven’t seen in some time—it will be wonderful to catch up and share some memorable moments together! Let’s make this convention a truly special experience for everyone.
2026-2027 Budget
As of this writing, we are pleased to report that the 2026-2027 Budget is almost finalized. The State Council has dedicated considerable time and effort to streamlining and clarifying the budget, with the goal of making it much easier for everyone to understand. This new approach will not only help simplify our budget discussions at the upcoming convention but also aims to make the presentation more relatable and practical for your councils. By aligning our budget format more closely with the way local councils prepare their own budgets, we hope to foster greater transparency and provide a useful reference point. Our intention is that this clarity will help all council leaders feel more comfortable engaging with the budget process and encourage thoughtful questions and feedback during the convention.
Invoices Received
I’m delighted to share some great news about our councils’ progress with their invoices! Thanks to everyone’s dedication, the first half per capita payments are more than 90% complete, and the second half per capita is almost 84%. That’s a fantastic accomplishment and a testament to how committed you all are to supporting our State Council.
I understand that insurance billing has caused some confusion this year—it’s been a bit tricky for many of us. Despite these challenges, the second round of insurance billing is over 89% paid, which is wonderful. However, we do have some room for improvement, as the first insurance billing is just over 62% paid. Please keep in mind that your State Council has already covered the insurance bill in advance, and each council received its prorated share based on the number of active members. That means your prompt payments help us stay on track.
Thank you all for your hard work and attention to these financial matters. Your efforts make a real difference in keeping our organization strong and able to serve our members and communities.
If your council still has some outstanding invoices, or if you have questions or concerns about any billing details, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m always here to help and happy to assist you in any way I can. Together, we can ensure that everything runs smoothly!
Annual North Carolina Knights of Columbus Convention
Plans for the State Convention are progressing well. Bishop Zarama will join us on Friday evening at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, May 15–17, 2026. Looking forward to seeing you there!
If you have questions or need assistance, contact me anytime. Best wishes for your goals this Fraternal Year!

Joe McCarthy, North Carolina State Treasurer
