Join us in Durham for the 104th State Convention being held at the Sheraton Imperial Convention Center the weekend of May 3-5, 2024. The councils of District 5 are honored and privileged to host this event. A fun-filled weekend has been planned for all Knights and family members. With easy access to the State Capital and surrounding area attractions including the Holy Name Cathedral, we are expecting a large turnout for this convention. We highly recommend making your hotel reservations and submitting your online registration forms as soon as possible.

We are hoping to minimize paper registration forms this year to improve efficiency and will charge a Paper Registration fee of $20.  We strongly encourage all Brother Knights to utilize the online registration option this year.

We will distribute the Convention Program to every registrant throughout the state, so this is a great vehicle to gain visibility and create goodwill throughout the entire Knights of Columbus family in North Carolina.
  • You will see that we have added an additional Program rate structure for Commercial Businesses. Additionally, we would like to have all (Internal) ads submitted by March 1st (Early Bird Special) so that we have time to build an outstanding program and still accommodate late submissions, NO SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER April 1st. The enclosed Advertising Contracts list the cost for each size ad.
    • Send contracts and pictures as instructed in the order blanks. Checks should be payable to: NC Knights of Columbus State Council.

Last, but certainly not least, District 5 would like to acknowledge the Fr Thomas Price Council on their 100th Anniversary and thank the “Humble Council” for sponsoring the Convention’s hospitality room this year!
While we are hard at work during the convention, plans are in place to entertain our wives and loved ones. We want to make sure that all who attend have a pleasant weekend. The following events are planned:

  • Friday evening entertainment provided by the Cardinal Gibbons High School music department under the direction of Mr. Mark Cushin.
  • On Saturday, the ladies will enjoy a morning dedicated to wellness and self-care, that will focus on nurturing your inner and outer beauty as a woman of faith. As busy wives, mothers, daughters, grandmothers…we often spend much more time caring for others than we do for ourselves. Healthy routines or practices like stretching, mindful breathing, skincare and beauty rituals can easily fall by the wayside in our quest to do things for others. But scripture actually tells us that God wants us to take the time we need to rest, renew, and revitalize ourselves. He wants us to treasure and love ourselves as much as He loves us. Let’s learn together how we can do this better!
  • On Sunday, the ladies are invited to relax, enjoy watching a Christian movie, and some refreshments.
  • For children (6 years or older) a fun morning of interactive science experiments is on the agenda.Science for Fun (https://www.sciencefun.org/) provides hands-on kits that will not just keep our children entertained, but perhaps get them excited about learning.
  • On Saturday evening, our youth will enjoy a pizza party and movie during the banquet.
